It’s hard to say for sure, since many top athletes and boxers specifically in or around Tyson’s era did take them (including Holyfield). But in all fairness, it has to be said that there has never been a credible accusation or any evidence of that with regard to Tyson. And apparently he was a physical beast even at age 13. One of the reasons Mike Tyson looked incredibly intimidating was his physical development. He was strong and muscular. Most people on the planet were scared to death just by looking at the size of his muscles. Besides being big, Tyson was also pretty lean for a heavyweight boxer. Six pack abs are not that common for heavy weight boxers. Steroids are counted and rumoured to have been used by Mike Tyson.
There are a lot of rumours surrounding Tyson and his musculature. Of course, most people like to attribute it to genetics. Whenever we don’t understand something we always refer to the genetics card: “He has incredible genetics and that’s why he is so lean and mean.” That’s what the movies though us – how to be stupid and never think critically. People have forgotten the art of simple logic. Actually, people have not forgotten the art of simple logic. We’ve forgotten the art of any logic, even the type that can classify as less than simple.
It is really difficult to count the athlete on steroid and without steroid simply by the appearance. The Mike Tyson story is no different. All questions gather around, did he actually use steroids? The stigma surrounding steroids and the penalties that professional athletes can incur for getting caught ensure that they never get thee full story unless they actually get caught and suspended. Tyson’s physique is unique in the boxing world. And therefore steroids consumption is rumoured to have been used by Mike Tyson.Note the six packs abs he boasted in his prime. It is actually rare to see a boxer with such a lean, toned body.
It is hard to get precise, verifiable facts on Mike’s 80s / 90s body fat percentage, but most would estimate somewhere between 8% and 11%. Likewise, it is difficult to be sure what his workout routine consisted of or what types of steroids he might have use.
Mike Tyson’s Daily Regime (7 days a week):
5am: get up and go for a 3 mile jog
6am: come back home shower and go back to bed (great workout for those huge legs of his)
10am wake up: eat oatmeal
12pm: do ring work (10 rounds of sparring)
2pm: have another meal (steak and pasta with fruit juice drink)
3pm: more ring work and 60 mins on the exercise bike (again working those huge legs for endurance)
5pm: 2000 sit-ups; 500-800 dips; 500 press-ups; 500 shrugs with a 30kg barbell and 10 mins of neck exercises
7pm: steak and pasta meal again with fruit juice
8pm: another 30 minutes on the exercise bike
His diets consisted almost entirely of carbs and proteins. It is safe to assume that he probably had some supplements now and then, vitamins, protein shakes, etc. in addition to simple diet.
